Before You Get Quotes

A crack that needs nothing and a crack that needs a wall rebuilt look about the same from the driveway.

That is the whole difficulty with stucco repair. The visible symptom and the actual condition are two different things, and one of them is behind the other. Width, direction, and pattern tell you most of it — but only once you know whether you are looking at block or frame construction, because the same diagonal crack means something different on each.

Which is why calling three contractors tends to produce three numbers with a wide gap between them and no way to judge which one is describing your wall accurately. The quotes differ because the diagnoses differ, and nobody showed you the diagnosis.

So the useful first question is not “what does this cost.” It is “what is this.”

What We Repair

Stucco repair services

Residential and commercial, on hardcoat stucco and on EIFS, across Melbourne and Brevard County.

Side-by-side comparison of a stucco wall: on the left, cracking with a section broken away to expose the block behind it; on the right, the same wall patched, textured, and painted.
Left: cracking with the finish coat broken away to the block. Right: the same wall patched, re-textured, and coated.

Crack repair

Hairline cracking, map cracking, and the diagonal cracks that step out from window and door corners. The repair depends on which of those you have — and on whether the house is block or frame, because the same crack means different things on each.

Patching and spalling

Chipped, broken, and missing stucco, including spots where the surface has come away from what it was bonded to. If the substrate underneath is sound, this is a contained repair.

Texture matching

Matching the existing finish — knockdown, sand, dash, worm — so the repair reads as wall rather than as patch. This is the part most repairs get wrong, and it is the difference between a fixed wall and an obvious scar.

Failed prior repairs

Patches that cracked again, caulk used where stucco was needed, and colour coats that never matched. A repair that failed once usually failed for a reason that is still there.

Water-related repair

Where the crack or stain turns out to be water getting in behind the wall, the repair involves what is underneath, not just the surface.

Water damage stucco repair

EIFS, if that is what you have

Synthetic stucco is a different system and does not fail the same way. A crew that treats EIFS like hardcoat stucco can make the wall worse.

EIFS repair
Repair or Replace

When replacement is the honest answer, and when it is just the expensive one.

Most walls do not need replacing. Cracking, chipping, spalling, and failed patches are usually repairable, and repairing them costs a fraction of a re-stucco.

A wall is genuinely past repairing when the failure is systemic rather than local — delamination across an elevation, substrate damage behind a large area, or an install that has failed as a system instead of cracking in one place. In that situation, patching it is money spent twice.

The condition of the wall decides which of those you have. Not the contractor, and not the size of the job the contractor would prefer.

Usually a repair

  • Hairline cracking, including widespread map cracking
  • Chips, dings, and impact damage
  • Localised spalling over a sound substrate
  • A previous patch that cracked or never matched
  • Fading, chalking, and surface staining

Replacement worth considering

  • Hollow or soft areas across a large part of an elevation
  • Substrate or sheathing damage behind the stucco
  • Repeated repairs to the same wall that keep failing
  • An EIFS system installed without drainage that is holding water

If you are working through this decision yourself, the crack guide covers how to read what you are looking at.

Why Stucco Fails Here

Coastal Brevard is hard on a wall in specific ways.

Wind-driven rain gets behind stucco at flashing details that would never leak in a milder climate. Salt air corrodes lath in frame-built walls near the coast. Thermal cycling through a Florida summer opens hairline cracks that then admit the next storm. And a great many Brevard homes built in the 1980s and 1990s are EIFS rather than hardcoat stucco, which changes the repair entirely.

Any stucco company working here should be able to name all of that and tell you which one is happening on your house.

Read those before you call anybody, including us. If they tell you your wall is fine, that is a real answer and it costs you nothing.

Common Questions

Stucco repair questions

How much does stucco repair cost in Melbourne, FL?

It depends on what is actually wrong, and that is not evasion — a hairline crack in a colour coat and a crack that is admitting water into frame construction are different jobs with different prices. We do not publish a price range for Brevard County because we do not have a verified local one to publish, and a number invented for a website is worse than no number.

Is my stucco crack serious?

Most hairline cracks on Brevard County stucco are cosmetic. Cracks wider than about an eighth of an inch, cracks stepping diagonally from a window or door corner, stains bleeding out of a crack, and any spot that feels soft when you press it are the ones worth attention.

Read the crack diagnosis guide

Should I repair or replace my stucco?

Repair, in most cases. Full replacement is the right answer when a wall is genuinely past repairing — widespread delamination, substrate damage across an elevation, or a system that has failed rather than cracked. It is an expensive answer when the wall is not past repairing.

Can you match my existing stucco texture?

Usually. Knockdown, sand, dash, and worm finishes can be matched closely. Colour is the harder half — an older wall has weathered, so a matched colour coat on a patch can still read slightly different until it weathers in. On a badly faded wall, coating the full elevation is sometimes the more honest fix.

Do you repair EIFS as well as traditional stucco?

Yes, and they are handled differently. If you are not sure which one your house has, there are four physical tests you can do yourself in about ten minutes.

Read the EIFS identification guide

Do you work outside Melbourne?

Yes — Melbourne, Palm Bay, West Melbourne, Melbourne Beach, Palm Shores, Titusville, and the surrounding Brevard County communities.

Start with what it is.

Tell us where the crack or stain is, how long it has been there, and whether it has changed. That is usually enough to say what we are probably looking at and what the repair would involve.

If it turns out to be the cosmetic kind, we will tell you that too.
